What this site is
Wash & Bloom publishes studio notes about watercolour technique, pigment mixing and study practice. It is editorial content. It is not a course, not a certification, and not professional advice of any kind.
Technique notes and your own safety
Pigments, mediums, masking fluids, solvents and fixatives carry real handling risks. Dust from dry pigment, solvent vapour and prolonged skin contact all have health consequences that vary by product and by person. Always read the manufacturer's safety data sheet before studio use.
The techniques described here are written for an adult working in a ventilated space with appropriate precautions. You are responsible for your own materials, your own workspace and your own health.
Copying and study
Entries that describe studying another artist's work are exercises for private practice. Nothing on this site grants you a licence in any third party's work, and no artwork by another hand is reproduced here. If you make a study, keep it as practice, and do not present it as an original or offer it for sale.
Intellectual property
The text, the generated colour plates, the page design and the underlying code of this site belong to Wash & Bloom and are protected by copyright. You may quote short passages with a link back and clear attribution. You may not republish entries wholesale, resell them, or use them to train a commercial model without written permission.
No warranty
The site is provided as is and as available. We make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, that it is free of error, or that any technique described will produce a particular result on your paper, in your climate, with your pigments. Colour reproduction varies between displays and between batches of paint.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wash & Bloom is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, including ruined materials, lost working time, or damage to artwork. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

This site carries advertising, and some links lead to third-party sites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their products or their privacy practices. An advertisement is not a recommendation.
Changes and governing law
We may revise these terms; the date at the top of the page will change if we do. Continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
